§ 621-109. Lights on parked vehicles.

  • When a vehicle is parked or stopped upon a street or public place, whether it is attended or unattended, at any time from one-half (½) hour after sunset to one-half (½) hour before sunrise, or at any other time or at any place when and where there is not sufficient light from any source to render the vehicle clearly discernible to persons on foot or operating vehicles on the street at a distance of five hundred (500) feet therefrom, the vehicle shall be equipped with and there shall be turned on, one (1) or more lights which shall show a white light which shall be visible on the side nearest the roadway for a distance of five hundred (500) feet to the front of such vehicle and a red light so visible for a distance of five hundred (500) feet to its rear. However, no lights need be displayed at any time upon any such vehicle when it is parked or stopped in accordance with the provisions of this chapter on the right-hand side of any street, or on either side of any one-way street, where there is sufficient light from streetlights or from any other source to reveal the parked vehicle to any person upon the street within a distance of five hundred (500) feet in both directions from the vehicle, provided that all other applicable provisions of this Code or of any other ordinance or statute shall apply to such vehicles.
